By accessing or using Safis Energy ("Service"), operated by Safis Data, LLC ("we", "us", "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Safis Energy collects, organizes, and presents publicly available data about Ohio's deregulated residential electricity market. It has no commercial relationship with any supplier, utility, or government body. Nobody pays us to show or hide anything.
The Service exists for informational purposes. The patterns, comparisons, and historical analyses it presents reflect what we found in public data. They are not recommendations, and they are not a substitute for your own judgment.
Safis Energy is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO), any utility company, any retail electricity supplier, or any government agency. All supplier names, utility names, and trademarks referenced on the Service are the property of their respective owners.
Safis Energy pulls from public APIs and government filings that are themselves imperfect. Offers appear and disappear without notice. Utility rates update on irregular schedules. Federal data arrives a year late. We do our best to keep up, but we make no warranty that anything shown is complete, current, or correct.
Before acting on anything you see here, verify it at the source. Call the supplier. Check your utility's tariff schedule. Read the fine print on the offer itself.
We guarantee that some of this data is wrong. We just don't know which parts. Every other source of Ohio energy market data makes the same guarantee. They just don't say it out loud.
Safis Energy shows data. What you do with it is up to you. If you lock a rate, stay on the utility default, or do nothing at all, that is your choice and your risk. Suppliers may charge cancellation fees, rates may move against you, and offers may not be what they appear.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SAFIS DATA, LLC AND ITS OWNERS, OPERATORS, CONTRIBUTORS, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR RELIANCE ON THE SERVICE. THIS INCLUDES, WITHOUT LIMITATION, LOSSES FROM ENERGY SUPPLY DECISIONS, CANCELLATION FEES, BILL INCREASES, OR DATA ERRORS.
THIS LIMITATION APPLIES REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), STRICT LIABILITY, OR OTHERWISE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Safis Data, LLC and its owners, operators, contributors, and affiliates from and against any claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including attorney's fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your decision to switch or not switch energy suppliers based on information obtained through the Service.
Payments made through the "Support this work" feature are entirely voluntary. They are not purchases, subscriptions, or donations to a nonprofit organization. Payments are non-refundable and do not entitle the payer to any product, service, guarantee, or tax deduction. Payment processing is handled by Stripe and subject to their terms of service.
Safis Energy links to PUCO, utility rate schedules, Stripe, and other external sites. Once you leave Safis Energy, you are on someone else's site under their terms. We are not responsible for what you find there.

These sources are public but not guaranteed to be stable, complete, or accurate. Safis Data, LLC has no control over their availability or correctness.
Original analysis, code, and presentation are the property of Safis Data, LLC. Underlying public data remains in the public domain.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Safis Energy may go offline, change, or shut down at any time. We have no obligation to keep it running.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts of the State of Ohio.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
