This site analyzes Ohio's deregulated residential electricity market using every offer filed with PUCO since 2014 - millions of records across all six utility territories. Select your utility above to see current offers, historical patterns, and what the data shows about timing a fixed-rate lock.

Fixed-rate offers are compared against your utility's default rate (the Price to Compare). Variable and introductory offers are analyzed separately, with documented gaps where public data does not exist.

Intro rate transparency

Cancellation fee: A fee some suppliers charge if you leave before your contract ends. Also called an early termination fee (ETF).
EIA-861 (avg actual): Federal data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, Form 861. Reports each supplier's total revenue divided by total sales annually - the average rate their customers actually paid across all plan types. Published ~1 year behind.
Fixed rate: A supplier rate locked for a set number of months. Your generation charge stays the same regardless of market changes.
Introductory rate: A low teaser rate, typically for the first month only. After the intro period, the rate becomes variable and is set by the supplier. The post-intro rate is not disclosed publicly by PUCO, the utility, or in any federal data.
NOPEC: Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council. A government aggregation program that negotiates rates on behalf of member communities.
Spread: Utility default rate minus a fixed offer rate. Positive means the offer is cheaper.
Utility default rate: The generation rate you pay if you don't choose a supplier. AEP Ohio calls this the Price to Compare (PTC). It changes every quarter.
